Friday, August 24
Arrived in Chicago early afternoon and was picked up by my former classmate Heidi and her friend, Butch. Since this is my first time in Chicago, they showed me some sights. I was very impressed especially with the skyline. (Click on any picture to see the enlarged version)

We drove by the Adler Planetarium, the Field Museum of Natural History, the Shedd Aquarium, and Soldier Field.

Then on to the University of Chicago campus where I saw Frank Lloyd Wright's Robie House, the Henry Moore sculpture commemorating the 25th anniversary of the first controlled generation of nuclear power by Fermi and his colleagues, and the Rockefeller Chapel.

Heidi and Butch dropped me off at the John Hancock Tower's Club 44 for the "Welcome to Chicago" get-together with my U.P. College of Pharmacy co-alumni.

I was so glad to meet again so many old friends and classmates. I also met all the other members that attended. Food and drinks were provided complimentary of the Chicago resident members.

That evening I was invited to stay at Julie and Vic Esclamado's townhouse which is in the University of Chicago vicinity.

The official meeting of the group was hosted by Angie Baloy on the 95th Floor which offered spectacular views of Chicago.

A nostalgic College of Pharmacy slide show was presented by Dean Yolanda R. Robles and the Alay Mula Sa Puso Project, including the Raul Sunico Concert to benefit our beloved college, was discussed. Contributions were collected and tickets to the concert were sold. A sumptuous luncheon buffet followed.

FRANK LLOYD WRIGHT HOUSES
OAK PARK, ILLINOIS

The afternoon was free so Heidi and Butch picked me up again and we drove to Oak Park to see more Frank Lloyd Wright houses. Afterwards, they showed me more Chicago sights and then we went to dinner in Chinatown before they dropped me off at Vic and Julie's townhouse.

Sunday, August 26
LAKE MICHIGAN CRUISE: SPIRIT OF CHICAGO

Today's agenda started with a harbor cruise and buffet lunch on the Spirit of Chicago. Exciting views of the harbor and the skyline.

Enjoyable 2-hour cruise with nice buffet lunch onboard.

Here are some pictures taken during the Lake Michigan Cruise.

ARCHITECTURE RIVER CRUISE: INNISFREE
After the Lake Michigan cruise, a group of us decided to take the very interesting and educational Architecture River Cruise aboard the Innisfree. This tour is run by the Chicago Architecture Foundation with very knowledgeable docents.

DOWNTOWN/MILLENNIUM PARK
After the river cruise we walked toward Millennium Park to wait for our ride back to Vic and Julie's house and the following pictures were taken along the way.

Vic and Julie prepared a sumptuous Filipino feast and the get-together came to an end in the wee hours and we had just a few hours sleep before V & J took me to the airport for my very early morning flight to Oakland, California. My heartfelt thanks to Vic and Julie and their son, Julius, for their kindness and hospitality!
